How to Export GoodNotes Planner Pages as PDF

How to Export GoodNotes Planner Pages as PDF — Temply Studio editorial visual

To export GoodNotes planner pages as a PDF, open the planner, select the page or pages you need, choose the current export command, select PDF, review the available export options, and save the file to a destination you can verify. On iOS, Goodnotes documents exporting a current page from the Share menu and selecting multiple pages from the thumbnail view. On Android, Windows, and Web, Goodnotes documents selecting pages from the sidebar and choosing Export.

The exact controls and available PDF options can differ by platform. Always follow the current interface on your device and open the exported file afterward to confirm that it contains the intended pages and behavior.

Decide what you need to export

Before opening the export menu, define the purpose:

  • share one completed planning page;
  • print a short page range;
  • archive a month or project;
  • send selected notes;
  • create a readable copy outside Goodnotes;
  • preserve a document in a native format for continued use in Goodnotes.

A PDF export is useful for viewing and sharing, but it is not automatically the same as a native Goodnotes document or a complete library backup. If recovery is the main goal, review the digital planner backup and file organization guide.

Export a single page on iOS

Goodnotes documents two common routes.

From the document view

1. Open the planner page.

2. Tap the Share control in the navigation bar.

3. Choose Export This Page.

4. Select PDF.

5. Review the available export details.

6. Choose a destination and save.

From the thumbnail view

1. Open the planner.

2. Open the thumbnail or Pages view.

3. Open the menu for the intended page.

4. Choose Export.

5. Select PDF and the required options.

6. Save the file.

Labels may change. Use Goodnotes’ current export documentation when your interface differs.

Export multiple pages on iOS

For a page range or non-consecutive selection:

1. Open the thumbnail view.

2. Enter selection mode.

3. Select each page you need.

4. Review the highlighted thumbnails.

5. Choose Export.

6. Select PDF.

7. Review export settings.

8. Save or share the resulting file.

Check the selection before exporting. Repeated planner layouts can make adjacent pages look similar in thumbnail view.

If order matters, confirm that the pages appear in the intended sequence in the planner before export. Open the finished PDF and review its page order.

Export on Android, Windows, or Web

Goodnotes documents a platform-specific route for exporting selected pages:

1. Open the document.

2. Open the sidebar.

3. Select one or more pages.

4. Choose Export.

5. Save the resulting PDF to the available destination.

The destination and download behavior can depend on the device and browser. Confirm the file in the Downloads folder or selected storage location rather than assuming that it saved successfully.

Export an entire planner only when needed

If you need the whole document, Goodnotes also documents exporting a single document from the Library or document view. Whole-document export can create a much larger file than a short page selection.

Use a full export when:

  • you need an archive of the complete document;
  • the recipient needs every page;
  • you are intentionally creating a broad reference copy.

Use selected-page export when:

  • only a few pages are relevant;
  • the planner contains personal information that should not be shared;
  • you want a smaller, focused file;
  • you are printing a limited page range.

Always review a complete planner export for pages you did not intend to disclose.

Editable vs flattened PDF

On supported Goodnotes export workflows, you may see options related to editable and flattened PDFs. These formats can behave differently.

Goodnotes explains that flattening combines content into a form that may no longer preserve some pre-existing PDF hyperlinks or outlines in the same way. Goodnotes specifically advises using the editable PDF data format when you need to preserve pre-existing hyperlinks and outlines from an imported PDF planner.

However, Goodnotes also distinguishes those pre-existing links from hyperlinks created inside Goodnotes. Because the correct choice depends on the source document and the behavior you need, use the official hyperlink export guidance and test the exported file.

Do not promise that all links, annotations, layers, fonts, or editing behavior will be preserved in every destination.

Review other export options

Depending on platform and current app controls, export settings may include choices related to:

  • page background;
  • annotations;
  • sticky notes;
  • PDF data format;
  • destination or sharing app.

Select settings based on what the recipient needs. If a clean page without annotations is required, verify the exported result rather than relying only on the option label.

For printing, open the PDF in the intended viewer and review page size, orientation, margins, and scale before printing a large batch. This guide does not claim that a particular planner is designed for a specific paper size.

Name and store the PDF

Use a clear filename:

  • weekly-plan-2026-08-03.pdf
  • project-alpha-planning-pages.pdf
  • college-planner-july-archive.pdf

Avoid generic names such as Document.pdf or Export 2.pdf.

Save the file in a folder that reflects its purpose:

“`text

Digital Planners/

Planner Name/

PDF Exports/

2026/

“`

If you are sharing the file, keep a private archive copy only when it is appropriate for your data and storage practices.

Verify the exported PDF

Before sharing, printing, or deleting anything:

1. Locate the PDF at the destination.

2. Open it outside Goodnotes.

3. Confirm the page count.

4. Review the first and last selected pages.

5. Check page order.

6. Confirm required annotations are visible.

7. Test any links that matter.

8. Check that no unintended personal pages are included.

Verification is especially important when you selected non-consecutive pages or changed export options.

Common export problems

The PDF contains the wrong pages

Return to the Pages view, clear the selection, and select the intended thumbnails again. Verify the highlighted pages before exporting.

A link no longer works

Review whether the link was part of the original imported PDF or created later in Goodnotes. Check the selected editable or flattened PDF format and follow Goodnotes’ current hyperlink export guidance.

An annotation is missing

Review the export options and confirm whether annotations were included. Export one test page before repeating a large export.

The page background looks different

Check the page-background option, if available, and create a one-page test. Different viewers and printers can also display PDFs differently.

The file cannot be found

Check the selected destination and the device’s Downloads or file-management app. Repeat the export only after confirming that a file was not already created.

The PDF is larger than expected

Export only the required pages, and avoid promising a specific file size. Page content, images, handwriting, and export settings can affect the result.

Export is not a complete backup plan

A readable PDF is valuable, but a recovery plan may also require an original source file and a native or library backup. Keep:

  • the untouched planner source;
  • the active Goodnotes document;
  • a dated backup or native copy when appropriate;
  • selected PDF exports for sharing or archive use.

Goodnotes documents manual library backup separately from page export. Review the official workflow before resetting or switching devices.

Continue your planner workflow

Updated export QA checklist

Goodnotes’ current export documentation lists document, page, folder, PDF, image, and native Goodnotes export options, with differences between iOS and Android, Windows, and web workflows. Select the pages in your current app, export a copy, and inspect that copy before replacing the working planner.

  1. Confirm the selection. Check the first and last page, the page count, and the order of any selected range.
  2. Choose the intended output. Decide whether the file is for a readable archive, sharing, printing, or continued use in Goodnotes.
  3. Open the exported file. Confirm that handwriting, images, annotations, page orientation, and text appear as expected.
  4. Test important links. Do not assume that links behave identically after export; test the output in the reader or app where it will be used.
  5. Name and store the copy. Include the planner, period, page range, and export date without adding private information.

Use the current official Goodnotes export guide for the controls shown in your version. If the export is an archive, keep the original working document as well; a PDF copy is not automatically a substitute for the source file.
